October Word of the Month
Location: BlogsWCFS NewsletterStudent Developer
Posted by: Newsletter Editor 10/3/2006

Each month, we will have a page with an enriching (and hopefully entertaining!) word challenge.  The idea is this:  I will give you a word each month, along with its definition and a sentence using it. The word will be either uncommon or one that is no longer used in our society.  Your assignment is to use the word in a sentence of your own, and, if you wish, send it to me to put in the next month’s newsletter.  This challenge should enrich your knowledge of the English language and help you use more interesting words when writing essays, papers, or even letters!

This month’s word is...

Obsequious

(ob-se´-kwe-us)

It means:  Promptly obedient or submissive to the will of another; compliant;...

(American Dictionary of the English Language Noah Webster, 1828)

Example:  “Be obsequious to your parents, elders, and superiors, but most importantly to God.”

Send in your sentences by October 9th.  Have Fun!
