So Much is at Stake!
Weak
and Useless
I don’t remember ever starting a
column on such a negative. Hold
tight! This may work to become helpful.
Have you ever looked at what you
are accomplishing and think, “I’m getting nowhere. I can’t do this.” I’ve
had that experience recently and I want to share it with you.
I feel God is leading me to more
intensely study His Word so that I can better apply who He is to education and
life issues. I’ve been studying and
floundering. I’ve had some success and
some failure. Then it came to me. “I’m too old. I can’t do this. I can
hide behind old age.”Immediately as if by voice God
spoke to my heart and said, “Did you ask ME?”
I realized that I had fallen for an old trick. Dear Moms, I thought of you and wondered if you, too, were
falling for the same trick – you can’t do it.
Let someone else do it.
I went back to God’s thought to my
heart, “Did you ask ME?” and surrendered.
Then the thought came to me, “God didn’t want me trucking through the
study on my own with all of my good skills.
He wanted me to surrender, to realize that it was all up to Him. The useless feeling was a good thing because
it carried me to where God wanted me.”
Understanding
our Foundation
We will continue to make emphatic
the teaching of creation as it relates to all things. Why the emphasis?
Creation is the foundation stone for understanding God’s wisdom, love,
power and authority.
Consider: Romans 1:20 “For since the creation of the world His invisible
attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even
His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.”
Even Greater Purpose
Consider this from Psalm 102:18
“This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be
created may praise the Lord.”
So much is at stake! We will show God as reveled in
Scripture. Planting seeds that will
burst forth to show the greatness of God to yet another generation.
How can we but shout at such a
prestigious calling?
What an opportunity we have been
given to show God in all of His splendor in our everyday choices, like whether
to go to a ball game or not.
Library
In all of the electronic helps that
we have, don’t overlook the resources available to you at the library. If you can’t find what you need, ask for
help.
The library is a great place to
find a book to get you stared in drawing, music appreciation or foreign
language.
Go
Green
In all of the celebrating that we
hear about our responsibility to preserve the earth, don’t lose sight of the
plan for the earth that God reveals in His Word. Man was not called to worship the earth but to have dominion over
it. Animals, flowers, trees were given
to man for a purpose. Man is required
to practice good stewardship because these things are a gift to him from God.
Man, and only man, was created in
God’s image with ability to think abstractly, draw moral conclusions and relate
to God unlike all other creation.
All of creation has purpose. Our job is to discover how God’s plan works
and our part in it.
