~Pressing for the Mark~

Pressing Toward

Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”  “Pressing toward…” Consider this phrase. Could it mean, in part, that you are going to set goals and then be willing to pay the price to reach those goals? Focus on knowing God, (Phil. 3:10), so that your goals are worth struggling toward.

Diligence

Character training is seldom easy but pays huge dividends. Take the time to do it. You will be rewarded!  Following is a story I heard recently about training in diligence.  A young man was selected to take a ten-day mission trip to South America to teach Bible School to young children. He attended all of the training sessions and responded with excitement. He began collecting the needed supplies for the trip. Periodically the young man was reminded that he would need a passport, where to get it and how long the process would take.  Finally the day came for the trip. The young man- though “perfectly” prepared- did not go. “Why”, you ask. “Because he did not have a passport.”  When teaching diligence to your young children at home, remember to set specific deadlines. Also, make the expectation very clear so that all involved know if there has been success.

Eternal Vision

During the next school year, my intention is to try to relate Eternal Vision to a variety of area of education and life.  Paramount to understanding Eternal Vision is understanding Spiritual Authority. Therefore we will look at these concepts side by side. How best might we teach Spiritual Authority? While that is too difficult a question for me to answer, I do know that we must continue to encourage one another to grow in this area.  Consider this:  When Lucifer confronted God with the request for power, what was God’s response? Who has the “authority” to decide who is in charge?  What type of person can God use for kingdom purposes?  Discuss and share.

Spanish

While I firmly believe a nation is stronger if it has one language, that is no longer held in our country. Therefore I want to challenge each family to consider Spanish, Chinese or anther languages. For now, in our country, Spanish seems to be must useful.

Please call me if you have areas that you would like to see discussed at  workshops.
