In Matthew 12:40 Jesus compared his death to the time that Jonah was in the belly of the whale, three days and three nights. Did Jesus mean three days and three nights literally? How was it to be calculated?

When my wife and I first heard the news that we were to have a child, the very first thought I had was the sober reality of raising a child who was headed for hell without the intervening Grace of God. My whole focus narrowed to this daunting task of training "up a child in the way he should go so that when he is old, he won't depart". (Proverbs 22:6)

Are All These Your Children? |

My wife and I are frequently asked this question when we are out with our whole crew. My wife and I came to our convictions about family planning as young believers who earnestly desired a scriptural basis for discerning what Christ demanded of us as disciples. We felt that there must be absolutes that are clearly revealed in scripture in order for us to assess what is our domain and what is God’s for making our “family” decisions.
