Family Leadership Conference at Roxbury Holiness Camp, PA

August 15 - 19, 2012

The WCFS Family Leadership Conference is a whole family event designed to keep the family together for encouragement and edification in your home school adventure.

At WCFS, we Treasure God's Design for the Family. We value the family unit as a special center designed by God for teaching and training children. God has a purpose for placing children in families, and that purpose should be the highest objective of every home.

The WCFS Family Leadership Conference is designed with the family in mind. We have sessions and activities for the whole family together, and we have special sessions with a distinct focus on the needs of moms, dads, and children. Child care with a purpose is provided for general sessions.

2012 Family Leadership Conference Theme

The 2012 Conference theme is to be announced. The Conference theme for 2011 was Surpassing Excellence, taken from Proverbs 31:29 - Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.

Happy homes are homes that bustle with productivity and purpose.  Home economics is the foundation of functional skills and knowledge that begin at home.  The godly Christian home is the place where there is no lack of gain -- a center of good and not harm.  Discerning and meeting needs of the family itself is the very foundation of a true Christian education.

Home industry is God's first design for economy and purpose in the world at large.  Our conference this year will focus on the discovery and practice of Biblical Home Economics as the underpinnings of a complete and thorough curriculum and education for your children.

Topics will include translating operational home economics into creating clear plans and objectives for your home-education curriculum.  Key concepts will include developing trust, defining gain and goodness, training willing hands, motivation for early rising, strengthening weak arms, need meeting, prudence in planning, families of influence, kind instruction, and banishing idleness.  In short, our goal will be to stir up your desire to raise a godly seed whose beauty rests inwardly, not outwardly.

Many cabins have a kitchen (these are noted on the Registration Form). Cabins with the more suitable kitchen accommodations will be assigned to families who prepare all their own meals.

Campers or others using dorm rooms or accommodations without kitchens may utilize the camp’s walk-in freezer and refrigerator. Picnic tables are available by request and the pavilion behind the dining hall may be used by any of our families.

Accommodations and Camping

Several types of accommodation are available for varying prices.

  • Cabins vary in condition and furnishings and are typically very rustic.
  • Rooms are dorm type sleeping areas, usually bunk styled beds.
  • Campsites have water and electric and a few sites have sewer hookup.
  • The C.B.Byers Conference Center has hotel-like rooms. Each room has a private bath, one or two double beds and are fully air conditioned.
